McLaren's Formula One driver, Lando Norris, stated he is confident in his team's development department after the 2023 season.
Lando Norris labeled the 2023 season not only his best but also the best for his team ever since his arrival almost five years ago in 2019.
Ever since the upgrade was introduced at the 2023 Austrian Grand Prix, both Norris and his teammate Oscar Piastri have amassed nine Grand Prix podiums for their team, plus a few sprint podiums and a Sprint race victory.
All the competitors look at McLaren's progress as inspiration and proof of the fact that significant development steps forward are possible.
When asked to name the biggest threat to Red Bull's title in 2024, Max Verstappen suggested McLaren might be the team to endanger Red Bull's success next year. On prospects of competing for the championship in 2024, the 24-year-old F1 driver said:
"It is tough, but do I have confidence in it? Yes, after this year, I have more confidence than ever that the team can look into these things that we want as drivers and actually start to chip away at them."
McLaren team has an incredible winning history in Formula One, but the Papaya team has been struggling over the last couple of years compared to its rivals like Red Bull and Mercedes.
"Over the past few years, I wouldn't say that I haven't had that confidence because we've had [the problems] for four or five years."
The main goal for McLaren now is not only to make a faster car that will match Red Bull's pace but also to make a car that their drivers feel confident in, and Norris believes in his team's capabilities.
"Now I would say with confidence that we can make those next steps to make a good car, but also making a car that starts to suit us as drivers."
