Lando Norris was recently asked whether he would like to drive alongside Max Verstappen as his teammate, and he responded he would love to.
McLaren F1 driver Lando Norris extended his contract at the beginning of 2024. At the time, it was huge news. However, it was very quickly forgotten, overshadowed by even bigger news like Lewis Hamilton going to Ferrari.
Nevertheless, many fans questioned the 24-year-old's decision to extend his contract so early, as his current one with the Papaya team was running until the end of the season in 2025.
Norris is considered one of the most talented drivers with the highest potential on the grid, and Red Bull was open about the fact that they would be interested in him.
The team from Milton Keynes is currently the dominant team and could also offer the Briton a much higher chance of fighting for podiums and race wins. Asked by Sky Sports whether he could see himself as teammates with Max Verstappen, he jokingly responded:
"I would love to be. I've already asked him if he wants to come to McLaren, for some reason, he said 'no.'"
It has been suggested that Norris was scared of driving alongside the triple World Champion, which is why he chose to extend his contract with McLaren.
Moreover, McLaren's upward trajectory throughout the 2023 season obviously gave Norris some more hope, and he believes that his team is capable of fighting for Championships sooner or later.
On the other hand, he acknowledged the reason why everyone would want to drive alongside the Dutchman in Red Bull Racing, as he added:
"But I think everyone would, mainly just to be in the seat next to him, because then you can compete for higher positions."
