Red Bull Racing team principal
Christian Horner suggested he expects Mercedes to step up their game sooner rather than later.
Red Bull Racing has had an amazing 2023 season, and that was all perfect, but last year is already history, and the team from Milton Keynes looks ahead.
Right now, the development race is taking place - an "invisible" race, the results of which are hidden from the eyes of F1 fans until the first Grand Prix of the season in
Bahrain.
The main question at this point in time is: Will Red Bull be as dominant as it was in 2023? Christian Horner does not expect to be able to repeat the success his team achieved in the previous year.
As to which team could be the one to challenge Red Bull, the British team principal suggested he expects Mercedes to improve significantly. He told
Speedcafe:
"Mercedes has great strength in depth. Obviously, they've had a difficult period, but they've great drivers, and they will get it together, one would assume, at some point."
The British duo could endanger Red Bull's 2024 success if they were handed a competitive car by their team. On the other hand, there are now multiple F1 teams that could become a threat to Red Bull this year.
"McLaren had a great back end of the year, and Ferrari show flashes of real potential. So it's difficult to identify which of those is likely to be the biggest challenger, but you could take your pick almost."
Some experts suggest
only Ferrari with Charles Leclerc could stand a chance against the triple World Champion
Max Verstappen and the team from Milton Keynes.
Others suggest
Lando Norris on McLaren is the one that could go toe to toe with the Dutchman in 2024. Which team and driver do you think will be the most threatening to Red Bull in 2024?
