Mercedes F1 team issued a response concerning the launched investigation against Toto and Susie Wolff based on alleged conflict of interest.

FIA recently launched an investigation against Toto Wolff based on suspicions the two have shared confidential information with each other that they should not have access to.

As team principal, Toto Wolff was allegedly supposed to gain an advantage over other team principals by receiving insider information about FOM's (Formula One Management) decisions from his wife, Susie.

It did not take long for the Mercedes F1 team to issue a response to the statement. The German team called the allegations "unsubstantiated." Mercedes's statement read:

"We note the generic statement from the FIA this evening, which responds to unsubstantiated allegations from a single media outlet, and the off-record briefing which has linked it to the Team Principal of Mercedes-AMG F1."

Similar to F1, Mercedes noted it received no prior communication from FIA before the official investigation launch press release and called it "surprising."

"The Team has received no communication from the FIA Compliance Department on this topic and it was highly surprising to learn of the investigation through a media statement."

The German team also made sure to share its rejections and disagreement with the allegation against their team principal and his wife.

"We wholly reject the allegation in the statement and associated media coverage, which wrongly impinges on the integrity and compliance of our Team Principal."

Toto Wolff himself stated recently, that Formula 1 should promote transparency and honesty. Therefore Mercedes invites "full and transparent" correspondence from FIA concerning the investigation.

"As a matter of course, we invite full, prompt, and transparent correspondence from the FIA Compliance Department regarding this investigation and its contents."

What do you think about this investigation? It is true that married couples tend to have no secrets from each other, but do you believe Toto and Susie Wolff shared insider information that benefited both of them?
