There was one seat left in the 2024 F1 grid, and it was in the
Williams Racing, and now it's confirmed that
Logan Sargeant will have that seat.
The 22-year-old didn't have the best rookie season. After finishing fourth in the Formula 2 Championship in 2022, Sargeant joined
Alex Albon in Williams, but the Thai-British driver quickly showed his experience.
Albon out-qualified Sargeant in all of the races, being the only driver to beat his teammate 22-0 in the 2023 Formula One season. Therefore, the American's seat was far from certain for the 2024 season, but now it's been confirmed that he will continue in the team also in 2024.
The official announcement came from the
Williams Racing, as the team confirmed that Sargeant's contract was extended until the end of the 2024 season, in which he will once again drive alongside Alex Albon.
Sargeant, who finished 21st in the
2023 Formula One World Drivers' Championship, was happy to sign the contract, as the team gives him a great opportunity to develop as a driver.
"I am thrilled to be continuing with Williams Racing for the 2024 season. It has been an incredible journey with the team so far, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue developing as a driver within such a talented and dedicated group."
Williams Racing team principal,
James Vowles, who was
only recently seemingly unsure about the American's future in the team, was also happy to continue with Sargeant for the 2024 season.
"I am pleased to continue our journey with Logan into the 2024 season. Logan has demonstrated immense skill whilst under the pressure of the world stage, making him a perfect fit for our team. We have great confidence in his abilities and believe that together we can achieve even greater success in the upcoming season."
