Ferrari driver
Charles Leclerc is prepared to go all in during the final race of the 2023 season -
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to secure second place in the Championship for Ferrari.
Going into the last race of the season, the battle for the second place in the Constructors' Championship is pretty much tied with Ferrari in third place, lacking only four points on the second
Mercedes.
Charles Leclerc also goes into the race at
Yas Marina Circuit as seventh in the Drivers' Championship but is separated by only 12 points from fourth place.
While achieving fourth place in the Championship would be nice, it ultimately means nothing in the grand scheme of things, as the Monegasque says, and he would be a lot happier for second place in the Constructors' Championship. He told the media:
"Fourth place in the Drivers' means absolutely nothing. Second in the Constructors', though, is nice, honestly, I would really like for the team to be second at the end of this weekend."
"We've had a tough season, and everybody deserves it. They've worked like crazy in order to bring the upgrades earlier and probably deserve to be in second at the end of the year."
The chances for the 26-year-old to finish 4th in the Drivers' Championship are a lot smaller than the chances of his team finishing second, and he is aware of that.
"I will do absolutely everything [to achieve that], and in the Drivers', I don't have too much hope of finishing fourth, if it happens, then good."
Leclerc came super close to winning the previous race in Las Vegas and it was probably the bad timing of the safety car that separated him from the top step of the podium.
Mercedes might be in serious trouble if the Ferrari driver could replicate the same pace in Abu Dhabi. Would you like to see Leclerc win the 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix?
