The father of
Max Verstappen, Jos Verstappen, spoke again on the power struggles inside the
Red Bull Racing team.
Jos Verstappen made his stance on the situation around
Christian Horner clear when he spoke out for the first time following the
Bahrain Grand Prix.
He then said that the Red Bull Racing F1 team might be torn apart if the 50-year-old tried to retain his position. The triple World Champion's father spoke out for the second time following the team principals' conference ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
While Horner tried to draw a line under everything,
Verstappen Sr said it was too late for that. This time, the 52-year-old told
Sporza in regards to the apparent power struggle inside the team from Milton Keynes:
"It is necessary to get some rest in the team again, but given the circumstances, it will take a while, I think,"
"I can't say much about it. Hopefully they can concentrate on racing again soon, because that's what it's all about."
Verstappen Sr is focused on the well-being of his son in the team, and at the moment, the situation seems to have no influence on his performance.
The 26-year-old scored two poles and two wins during the first two Grand Prix weekends of the season, and it seems there is currently no one on the grid that could stop him from achieving the fourth title.
"The important thing is that he [Max] keeps winning, whatever he does. The car is running very well, and between the engineers and him, there is also nothing wrong."
"Max can switch off a certain part, only he gets a lot of questions about it. He doesn’t like that, but it’s part of Formula 1."
Christian Horner's accuser has now lodged an official complaint with the FIA, so the controversy continues, and it remains to be seen how all this will end.
