Former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan suggested Lewis Hamilton was distracted at the start of the 2024 season.

The seven-time World Champion has had a tough start to this season as he was constantly outperformed by his teammate George Russell in both qualifying and Grand Prix races.

In fact, the seven-time World Champion hasn't beaten the 26-year-old in any of the first five Grand Prix weekends. It got to the point where the Ferrari team principal started receiving questions about whether he doesn't regret signing the seven-time World Champ.

Since then, Hamilton's results have improved, and after the 14th round of the 2024 season. He is one of only two drivers on the grid with more than one victory, and he stood on the podium in four of the last five races.

Speaking on the Formula for Success podcast, Eddie Jordan asserted the seven-time World Champion might have been a bit distracted at the start of 2024.

"Lewis, I think, at the beginning of the year, he was, without any doubt, pretty much focused on joining Ferrari."
"He was focused on getting the right people and making sure that he had Fred Vasseur on board. They are going to be a big team next year, and they will be overjoyed to see the re-emergence of Lewis."

While Ferrari was lacking a bit behind Mercedes, Red Bull, and McLaren in the last few races, the Italian team is still super close and might compete for more race wins after the summer break.

Next year, the team will be joined by Hamilton and perhaps even Adrian Newey (this is only speculation for now, but it is a real possibility at the same time), and they might compete for both Championships. Jordan added:

"Ferrari are going to be incredibly strong, because I think Lewis is right back on his game, and he is now eyeing up a championship fight for next year. And who is to say he is wrong?"
