Of all 20 drivers on the F1 grid,
Lewis Hamilton is the one most involved in the production of the upcoming movie F1, and he revealed his role in the latest interview.
The movie "F1" is one of the most highly anticipated movies in the motorsport community. It is still being filmed during the actual F1 Grand Prix weekends, as it is supposed to be based in the real world with all the F1 teams—joined by the 11th team, "ApexGP."
The F1 movie will feature Brad Pitt as a retired F1 driver who returns to Formula 1. The exact details are, of course, still unknown. We recently learned about the
official release date: June 25, 2025.
Although Hamilton might appear in the movie, just like all the other F1 drivers, the 39-year-old will not be one of the main characters. He revealed his primary role was calling "bul****t" on things that were wrong in the script. He told
Esquire:
"We would sit and talk about what racing is about. Then once he wrote the script, I would sit with him and call bullshit, basically, on the things that don't seem real and are not what F1 is about and try to make sure that it's as authentic as possible. Then at the same time, I started a production company, so I'm a producer with these guys."
When asked about examples of things that would make him "call bul****t," the seven-time World Champion explained it would mostly be stuff related to racing scenarios,
"It would just be racing scenarios. Technical jargon engineers would talk. But particularly racing scenarios and sequences between overtakes and pit stops and strategies and all those sorts of things."
"There may have been a crash that was like the car hits the wall and flips and lands on the wheels and keeps going, and that doesn't happen in Formula 1."
