Lewis Hamilton will drive for
Ferrari in 2025, and according to former F1 driver David Coulthard, he's already mentally part of the team.
The British driver has been going through a challenging period, as after years of dominance with
Mercedes, he's very far from winning the races at the moment, with another team,
Red Bull, dominating.
In the midst of the team's struggles, Hamilton made the decision that it was time for a change, as
he signed a contract with another team, Ferrari. This comes after driving 12 seasons for Mercedes.
Still, at the start of the 2024 season, the 39-year-old reassured everyone that
he's 100% a Mercedes driver, but some pointers may suggest that he's already thinking about the following season.
Hamilton is clearly frustrated with his car's inability to cooperate with him, and
he's not afraid to voice his frustration after the races.
Many of his rivals, including former drivers, have noticed that, including David Coulthard, who spoke to Channel 4 about the British driver's current struggles with his car.
"He’s just not been settled with this car. And you can tell, you know, George is just honing the lap time right now, and you can feel that Lewis is on the back foot."
Still, despite currently being on the back foot, one thing is certain, according to Coulthard: once the seven-time World Champion gets a chance to compete, he will do that.
"What we do know though, if he does find a window of performance, then you know he will deliver."
However, the 52-year-old still can't escape the feeling that Hamilton may be already thinking about his next year's team, as Mercedes doesn't seem to be able to figure out the issues that he's having problems with.
"But right now, it’s looking like his decision to head off to Ferrari, mentally, he is already there."
