The former team principal of Haas, Guenther Steiner, landed a new job a few days ahead of 2024's first race in Bahrain.

Guenther Steiner was previously a team principal of Haas, but on the 10th of January, his surprising departure from the team was announced to the public.

It meant that we would not see Steiner in the F1 paddock in 2024, and indeed, he wasn't there during the pre-season testing. However, a recent announcement might change that.

The team principal will become part of the punditry line-up for the RTL (formerly RTL Plus and RTL Television), which is a German free-to-air television channel.

The program director, Inga Leschek, called the 58-year-old "a real character" who is "extremely popular with many Formula 1 fans."

Steiner was indeed super popular thanks to the Netflix Series Drive to Survive. Even though he was a team principal of the last team on the grid, he was the third principal with the most air time, right after Toto Wolff and Christian Horner (principals of the first two teams in the Championship). Leschek also said:

"With Guenther Steiner, we have succeeded in getting a long-standing manager and Formula 1 insider directly from the paddock in front of the RTL microphones, who will enrich our live broadcasts with up-to-date insights and plain language."

The former team principal of the Haas F1 team himself also reacted to the recent piece of news. Steiner said he was looking forward to examining the processes of teams and their drivers in upcoming seasons.

"Formula 1 is competition at the highest level, on the racetrack and in the paddock. How are the drivers’ performances to be assessed, and what does that mean for the organizations behind them?"
"I’m looking forward to examining these processes with this strong on-air team and sharing my analysis of the racing action."
