Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds shared a video call with Max Verstappen, where they agreed to donate $125.000 to Verstappen's charity of choice.
The CEO of Formula E, Jeff Dodds, is a big fan of Formula 1, though, following the end of 2023, he criticized the pinnacle of motorsport, suggesting it wasn't very competitive and that it was clear that Max Verstappen was going to win the Drivers title.
Dodds even said that if any other driver managed to beat Verstappen, he would donate $250.000 to the charity of that driver's choice.
After the first five races of the season, of course, it seemed the CEO of Formula E was right and that 2024 would be another slam dunk for Verstappen.
However, as we know, everything changed after that, and at one point after the summer break, many pundits and former F1 drivers didn't even think that the Dutchman was the favorite to win the title, despite his lead in the Championship.
Ultimately, Verstappen secured his fourth title in Las Vegas, which meant Dodds would not have to donate the money, but he decided to partner up with Verstappen to do it still.
In a video call between the Red Bull Racing driver and Dodds (which you can see on the Formula E YouTube channel), the two agreed to split the $250.000 and donate it to two good causes that are closest to them:
"I thought we should do something good with that money, so if you're up for it, I think maybe we split it, and you give half of that quarter of a million to a charity or a foundation that you care deeply about, and I'll do the same how does that sound?"— Jeff Dodds
"What is closest to me is Wings For Life. Yeah, I think that would be a good shout."— Max Verstappen
"Year absolutely, so we're going to get a check over to Wings For Life on your behalf from us so that they can do some good with that.— Jeff Dodds
I think I'm going to use our half we're doing a partnership with more than equal to help us find ways to give um great women drivers more time in our cars so they can go on to be professional racing drivers. I know with your mom and your sister both racing I know that's something you care about as well."
"Yeah, that's amazing. I mean, I'm sure Wings for Life will be very grateful for that, and of course, you know, to support any kind of motorsport and young talent is amazing, so I think that is definitely a great shout for you. Thank you very much."— Max Verstappen
