Scuderia Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur was careful when discussing predictions for the season 2024, saying "nobody knows" how things will turn out.
The Scuderia Ferrari team finished third in the Constructors' Championship this season, which is not an improvement from second place last year.
While the team has been far away from Red Bull's pace, Carlos Sainz suggested Ferrari was faster than Mercedes, which ended up beating them by only three points.
The Spanish driver suggested it was consistency that the Italian team lacked, and his team principal seemed to be of a similar opinion when he said there is a huge opportunity going into 2024 just by improving the consistency.
On the other hand, Frederic Vasseur was careful with predictions ahead of the 2024 season when he told the media nobody knows whether it will be better:
"I don't know if it will be better next year, nobody knows. But you know what you are doing in your business and it is always a matter of comparison."
The Frenchman raised a valid point saying no improvement is good enough if your opponent can improve even more. On the other hand, even a small improvement would be great if nobody could do better. He explained:
"If you can make up one second and the others are doing 1.5s then you look stupid. But if they do five-tenths, then you look like a hero. I don't want to be too optimistic because it was probably one of the issues we had last season."
The team principal suggested he will make sure his team is focused on doing the right things that might lead towards the Championship title, rather than focusing on the Championship title from the beginning.
"We just have to be focused on what we are doing and not think about the outcome of the championship before it is won or to look at the prize-giving ceremony before Bahrain."
