Aston Martin F1 driver
Lance Stroll reacted to a great result achieved by Aston Martin in the Friday Qualifying session for the 2023
Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
It was a very messy Qualification on Friday due to changing weather conditions.
A massive storm rolled over the
Interlagos Circuit right as the Q3 started, and drivers got only one shot at putting their laps in.
What was even more surprising to many F1 fans was that Lance Stroll came out on top of his teammate
Fernando Alonso when he outqualified the Spanish Matador for the third time this season.
Asked whether this could be the turnaround, Stroll responded, saying we will find out. The Canadian does not think it was luck that put Aston Martin on P3 and P4.
"I guess time will tell. We'll build on today and keep up this form in other places. I don't think we were lucky today. We did well to get in front of the queue and get a good track position."
The 25-year-old explained how the two Aston Martin cars secured good position in the pit lane before the start of the Q3 which allowed them to put in decent laps before track conditions got even worse.
"The weather was coming in, so I think that was fine. But also, it was really tough. I think we did a good job of giving us an attempt at the front of the queue before the bad weather came in."
Even Stroll himself mentioned right after the session he did not think his lap was good as he went wide a few times, but in the end, he managed to put in a better lap than the seven remaining drivers in the top ten.
"It looks like a lot of guys missed their laps for whatever reason. I think we made our own luck today."
