The double world Champion Fernando Alonso discussed ahead of the 2024 Japanese Grand Prix the probability of Max Verstappen leaving Red Bull.
The triple World Champion, who has been rumored to be unsatisfied with the tense situation inside Red Bull Racing, recently said the team has no more worries about his potential exit.
This suggests that he no longer wants to leave and is happy with the situation, which, from the outside, appears to have stabilized.
A report from Mirror.co.uk also suggested that the team from Milton Keynes feels like there is "no risk" of the Dutchman leaving as it stands,
If the 26-year-old decided to leave Red Bull, it would have a sizeable impact on the whole driver market. It could potentially open the opportunity for Fernando Alonso to join the team.
However, Alonso also believes the chances of this happening are close to none, as he told the media at Suzuka Circuit:
"Sure, if Max leaves Red Bull, maybe that has an impact. But I think there is zero chance of that happening."
"So I think that's something that I'm not thinking [about] too much. And what I want to do is just concentrate on my stuff here and just this race, before trying to make a decision of if I keep racing around, and if I keep racing, where will be the best possibility."
This is the answer that the Spanish Matador has already given a couple of times. When asked about his future in F1, Alonso tends to change the topic from where he wants to continue to if he wants to continue at all.
This might either be his strategy to avoid answering the question, or the 42-year-old might really be considering retirement at the end of the season. He continued:
"That stress that is happening, I know the rumours and things like that. We are not into those too much, I'm not into those for sure."
When the Spanish Matador was asked why he believed Verstappen wouldn't be leaving Red Bull, he answered: "I don't know. That's my feeling."
