All F1 Drivers' Nationalities In 2024 Championship Season

Formula One grid contains spots for only 20 drivers at the moment, but it is still quite diverse. Here is a summary of all drivers' nationalities.

In total, there are currently 20 drivers on the grid representing 15 different countries. Most of the drivers come from European countries because that's where F1 is the most popular.

The Championship winner from the last three Formula One seasons, Max Verstappen, comes from the Netherlands; it is also partially thanks to him that F1 has now the Dutch Grand Prix again in its calendar.

Mexican fans go mad over their hometown hero, Sergio Perez, each year during the Mexico City Grand Prix, even though it wasn't the best race for Checo in 2023.

Great Britain has a great motorsport tradition, and three of the current drivers race under the British flag - Lando Norris, George Russell, and the seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton.

Williams driver Alex Albon is Thai-British but competes under the Thailand flag. His teammate Logan Sargent, representing the United States, joined F1 in 2023.

In 2022, the first Chinese driver entered a Formula One race. It was the Alfa Romeo driver Zhou Guanyu, and he managed to score points right away.

His teammate Valtteri Bottas comes from Northern Europe - Finland. Another driver representing the northern European country is Kevin Magnussen, who races under the Danish flag.

His teammate Nico Hulkenberg comes from not too far away and represents Germany. Hulkenberg has also been connected with a possible move to the new German F1 team in 2026 - Audi.

Staying in Europe, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc is a Monegasque while his teammate Carlos Sainz is Spanish. The oldest driver on the grid currently, Fernando Alonso, is also Spanish.

Alonso's teammate Lance Stroll is Canadian and can speak French, similar to the Alpine drivers who come from France, Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon.
