Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz scored a one-two in the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix Qualification.
The early morning Saturday qualifying session suited the most the Scuderia Ferrari F1 drivers who dominated qualification and finished three-tenths clear of third Max Verstappen on Red Bull.
While it wasn't the best qualifying result of the season for the Dutchman, he will be happier than his teammate Sergio Perez, who was confident going into the weekend but did not make it out of Q2.
Similarly to the Red Bull drivers, Mercedes also had only one driver in the last part of qualifying. Lewis Hamilton was the last driver to be pushed out of the top ten, finishing in P11.
George Russell showed better pace and scored a P4. The Alpine team followed the trend of opposite emotions on two sides of the garage as well.
Esteban Ocon finished in P17 as he encountered a lot of traffic on his final lap of Q1. On the other hand, Pierre Gasly will be satisfied with his amazing P5.
One of the biggest surprises of the session was Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant on Wiliams, who both got into Q3 and scored P6 and P7.
Alfa Romeo and Haas, who fight for the ninth place in the Constructors' Championship, both got one driver in the top ten. Kevin Magnussen finished ninth behind Valtteri Bottas in P8.
Second Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg, who was running a different car to his teammate, finished in 13th position, and Bottas's teammate Zhou Guanyu was only fast enough for P18.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll brought home P10 and P14 - a surprising result after Alonso stated his team had a couple more tenths in their pockets.
Two teams that would hope for a better result after showing great pace in Sao Paulo are McLaren and AlphaTauri. Both McLaren drivers did not even get out of Q1.
Oscar Piastri finished nineteenth, and Lando Norris in P16. Daniel Ricciardo got into Q2, but he was only fast enough for P15, and Yuki Tsunoda finished in P20.
