Williams Racing Formula 1 team just launched its new car, FW46, which we will see on the grid throughout the 24 Grand Prix races of the 2024 season.
Williams Racing has been part of Formula 1 ever since the season 1977. It is a British team that already achieved nine Constructors' and seven Drivers' Championships.
However, this once super-successful team has been struggling for quite a while and hasn't been able to win the Championship for the last two decades.
James Vowles, the new team principal who joined the team ahead of the last season, is on a mission to change that, and FW46 is the first Williams car in which he has been fully involved.
It will be the first step on Williams's journey towards the front of the grid. The British team abandoned their 2023 car's development as soon as the most recent season began in order to focus on this year.
Therefore, we expect the team to make a significant step forward. While Williams probably won't compete for podiums yet, the team could achieve top of the midfield in 2024.
As Will Buxton said during the launch of the FW-24, the car's new livery is all about "respecting the past but creating a new, ultra-competitive future."
The 2024 car features a transition between two shades of blue color - from "new era" Williams to heritage navy blue. White and red stripes around the nose of the car are a reference to Wiliams's 1970s and 1980s machines.
With the growing attractiveness of the team, the number of sponsor names featured on the car has grown as well. Main sponsors include Komatsu, My Protein, Gulf Oil, Duracell, Kraken, Stephens, Puma, and VAST Data.
Wiliams's 2024 livery is nothing groundbreaking but rather a subtle update to the previous one. Do you like the looks of the new FW46?
