Former F1 driver Martin Brundle reacted to Red Bull's insane pitch-black pitstop video that shows the team changing wheels in complete darkness.
The Red Bull Racing team has completely dominated the season in all aspects. The team has had super-consistent drivers, strategies, the best car, and the fastest pitstops.
The team from Milton Keynes has won the DHL award for fastest pitstops throughout the season with 543 points, 75 points ahead of Ferrari in second place.
Even though the team didn't have the the fastest pit stop of the season, which belongs McLaren team that broke a world record with their pit stop in Qatar, Red Bull has been by far the most consistent.
While the team can be completely satisfied with the work of their mechanics, they decided to create more challenges for them in 2023.
The team from Milton Keynes decided to try to see how fast their mechanics could change a wheel on a copy of RB19 in complete darkness.
How fast would you guess they could change a tire without being able to see if their average pitstop with clear vision has been around 2-2.5 seconds?
Both Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen were approached with the task for their mechanics and were supposed to guess how fast their team can change all tires in complete darkness.
While both responded half-jokingly, they were significantly off the actual result. Perez's guess was 33 seconds, and the Dutchman's was 6.69 seconds.
In the end, the Red Bull crew managed to complete the full pit stop in precisely 2.84 seconds! That is a time some teams would want to achieve during the race with complete visibility. See the full Red Bull's video below:
The team from Milton Keynes has been consistently the best in terms of pit stops throughout the last few seasons. Do you think they can keep their advantage over rivals in 2024?
