Many F1 fans online were confused by a video in which Fernando Alonso seemed overly aggressive following the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying.

Following the Grand Prix at Hungaroring, a video involving Fernando Alonso went viral on X (formerly Twitter). The video had little context, but it looked like the double World Champion was overly theatrical and aggressive.

The Spanish driver was about to go on the scale to weigh himself, and he was getting rid of his clothes by throwing them on the ground in front of one of the official who had to pick them up.

It was difficult to understand what was happening, so many fans criticized Alonso in the comments for what they saw in the video.

What was the context?

Alonso was, in fact, annoyed at what happened during the race because the situation after Yuki Tsunoda's crash wasn't handled appropriately. He told DAZN:

"The truth is that the FIA sometimes gets it right, and sometimes they make gross mistakes. Today, they had made one."
They put out the red flag when I was in the last corner, which is surprising. There was accident at turn eight [five]. Normally, they wait for the cars to complete the lap. It's the 'spoken norm.'

Alonso wasn't able to complete his lap, which was obviously very upsetting. What was even worse, he and his teammate were incorrectly sent into the ‘parc ferme’ area after coming back into the pits, as the officials thought the race was over.

"When entering the pit lane, Lance and I were put into parc ferme. They closed the pit lane. They put us into parc ferme, we got out of the car, then they told us that Q3 was starting again."

The 42-year-old eventually got to his garage, but he got back out of the car and didn't even go out on the track because he didn't have any fresh tires left.

"We went back to the car, they tightened our seatbelts, we went to the garage," he said. "I had no more tires, so I didn't go out anymore."

The disappointment from his deleted lap, combined with the incorrect procedures at the track and the adrenaline rush, probably got to the Spaniard, and he let it be known when he went to weigh himself on the scale (as you could see in the video).

However, it should be noted that all the clothes he was throwing away should be put aside for the weighing either way, and it probably wasn't the double World Champion's intent for the official standing by to pick the clothes back from the ground like his servant.
