F1 race engineer for Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen - Gianpiero Lambiase (GP) comments on the relationship with the three-time World Champion.

Max Verstappen is currently having one of the most dominant seasons in Formula One. In Sao Paulo, he won the 17th race of the season, extending the record for most wins in a single season.

However, the 26-year-old could be defined as short-tempered. Even though there does not tend to be many issues with the performances of the Dutchman or his car, he sometimes snaps back at his engineer on the team radio.

These team radios then get picked up by fans who consequently think there is a heated relationship between the two, but these rumors have been dismissed by both the driver and his race engineer in the past.

Gianpiero Lambiase joked about the relationship between him and the three-time World Champion during a recent episode of the Talking Bull podcast

"My biggest fear is the moment that we do have increased competition and we're not winning every race. Because, you see how he's treating me at the moment and he's winning every race! I'm really not looking forward to it."

While the Verstappen and Lambiase work great together, the race engineer explained they also like to spend free time away from each other in order to stay fresh.

"We've been together for eight seasons now. There are so many races, and there's so much time that you are forced to be together. I think it would be unfair to expect Max to spend even more time with me or vice versa when he's finally got a weekend off."

In terms of plans for when there is a break, like one week off between Sao Paulo and the race in Las Vegas, Verstappen explained he likes to spend time with his close family and friends.

"I come to the UK to do simulator stuff. Then I'm really happy to leave the UK to go back home. Like GP says, we're doing so many races together. It's also nice to just when you have free time to spend with your close friends and family."
