Lewis Hamilton and
Max Verstappen have very different personalities and don't tend to agree on many things, but they agreed when asked Olympics-related questions.
The two World Champions, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen shared a similar reaction when asked about the inclusion of motorsport in the Olympic games.
Many Formula 1 fans would naturally like to see their favorite drivers participate in the Olympic games if motorsport was included. As it stands, in 2024, there are 32 sports in the Summer Olympics, but motorsport is not one of them.
During the most recent Grand Prix events, F1 drivers were asked whether they would like to see motorsport be part of the Olympics and whether they would like to go and participate. Here is what the reigning World Champion from
Red Bull said:
"No, it's not for me. It's too much just car related. I don't know, it's probably also with racing. You didn't grow up in that kind of Olympic environment."
"I don't feel like it. I don't think we belong at the Olympic stage. And that's fine because we have our own championship, which I think is really well received. I enjoy watching the Olympic Games in front of my TV."
While the the seven-time World Champion agreed with his rival, he didn't elaborate too much and answered with a quick and simple "No."
While Verstappen and Hamilton said they didn't need motorsport in the Olympics and wouldn't want to participate, some other drivers were a bit more open to this possibility.
Alex Albon suggested he could imagine it and that it would have been fun if all the country's top racers were seated in equal machinery and battled it out at some track.
Charles Leclerc also said it would be an honor for him to represent his country (Monaco) in the Olympics.
The 26-year-old even carried the Olympic flame this year.
What do you, as an F1 fan, think about this? Would you like to see your favorite drivers battle it out, not for the team, but for countries?
