Max Verstappen disclosed that Red Bull has many ideas for improving its 2025 car, but he expects it to be "very tight."

Red Bull Racing F1 driver Max Verstappen was quite busy in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, a week after the final race of the 2024 season.

Verstappen first served his penalty, which was to accomplish something of public interest, and then attended the FIA prize-giving ceremony.

The 27-year-old isn't new to this ceremony as he came to collect his trophy for winning the drivers' title fourth time in a row. In his speech, Max Verstappen talked through his and Red Bull's ups and downs throughout the 2024 season:

"All of (the championships) are very different, which I think makes it always very special. For us it's been quite a challenging year, so to be standing here, still winning the title…"
"I'm very proud. We didn't have the best middle of the season., but the end of the season was a bit more competitive."

Before the summer break, Verstappen won seven out of 14 Grand Prix races. But the team from Milton Keynes really started struggling afterward, and the Dutchman only added two Grand Prix victories in the remaining ten race weekends.

"The competition did a great job, they improved their cars a lot. That made it a lot more difficult for us, especially in the constructors."

Red Bull Racing ultimately finished third in the Constructors' Championship, which only makes Verstappen's Drivers' title more special.

Unfortunately, Red Bull's second driver, Sergio Perez, really struggled and only collected 21 points in the last ten race weekends.

If the Mexican driver collected at least 53% of the amount that the Dutchman did in 2024, the Austrian team would have also won the Constructors' Championship. Verstappen continued:

"But even when we were under pressure, when we had tough times, the team stuck together. We didn't panic, which could easily be done in those kinds of situations. But at the end of the day I'm just very proud… very proud of everyone in the team."

Although Red Bull lost all of its performance advantage throughout 2024, Verstappen revealed his team has a plan of getting back to the top.

"We just need to work hard to try to improve the car. We have a lot of ideas we want to implement, and then I hope that when we hit the ground running next year we can be competitive again and fight for the wins."
"But it will be very tight, I think, between a lot of the teams up front. I think for the championship, that's great."
