Former F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone compared
Christian Horner's situation in
Red Bull to the Second World War and suggested people would soon forget it.
At the start of February 2024, an investigation was launched against Christian Horner for alleged "inappropriate behavior" towards one of the female employees of the Austrian Team.
As we know,
he was later cleared of all accusations, but the whole situation seems to have created a very tense atmosphere within the team, with multiple concerns emerging.
While he has the quickest car on the grid, multiple news outlets reported that
Max Verstappen wasn't happy with the state of his team and
was considering a potential exit.
Everything led to the point where the 26-year-old publicly warned his team he would leave if Helmut Marko was forced to. Since then, the situation seems to have calmed down, and Bernie Ecclestone Daily Mail Verstappen will likely stay:
"Max (Verstappen) seems likely to stay, and it's like all wars in so much as people get over things and move on."
Auto Motor und Sport reported that even though there might still be some tensions inside Red Bull, the triple world champion is happy to stay if no one has to leave the team and everyone remains in their current position.
Though it might seem impossible for everyone to forget about everything that happened and just continue with their lives, Ecclestone explained why he believes that is exactly what will happen.
"After the Second World War you weren't allowed to mention Germany, and the Jews wouldn't buy anything from there. It was understandable."
"But after not too long everyone forgets that and they are buying Mercedes. So I don't see why anyone would want to push Christian out, certainly not as time acts as a great healer. He is doing a super job, and a few weeks can make a big difference."
