Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc responded to Max Verstappen's confident comments suggesting he could win the 2024 Championship in McLaren and Ferrari as well.
With two race weekends still left in the 2024 season, Red Bull Racing F1 driver Max Verstappen secured his fourth consecutive title in Las Vegas.
Lando Norris previously stated that he believed the Dutchman wouldn't be able to win the drivers' championship title if he was driving for McLaren this season.
When the four-time World Champion was approached with a question whether he thought he could win with McLaren, he not only said he could do it, he went on to add that he would secure the title even sooner and that it would be a similar story with Ferrari as well.
Norris, who is 62 points behind Verstappen in the Championship ahead of the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix weekend, was approached with the 27-year-old comments, and he told the media at Lusail International Circuit:
"He [Verstappen] should have started in comedy or something. He can say whatever he wants. Of course, I completely disagree, as I would. He's good, but it's not true."
Ferrari driver, who is currently third in the championship (84 points behind the Dutchman), Charles Leclerc, also responded to the comments.
While he acknowledged the four-time World Champion's qualities, he asserted Verstappen shouldn't make such comments without knowing how Ferrari is:
"Max is a very special driver, and I think what makes him very special is also the confidence that he has. However, I think it's very difficult to say something like that not knowing actually what the car is like."โ <br>
"He's an incredible driver, no doubt. Whether he would have [won] it or not, I don't know. I don't know how the Red Bull is or how the McLaren is. He doesn't know how the Ferrari is, so it's maybe a bit of a stretch to say something like that."
