Red Bull Racing F1 driver Max Verstappen shared his opinion on the first-ever edition of the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
The newly built Las Vegas Strip Circuit will have its inaugural Grand Prix next week. The race has been promoted since the beginning of the season, so many fans can't wait for the show.
On the other hand, multiple concerns have surfaced as we approach the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix. One of the main problems that drivers and their teams will face is expected to be low temperatures.
The track will consist of 17 turns with two DRS activation points. Max Verstappen recently shared he does not like the layout and deemed the Las Vegas Grand Prix more for the show than the race itself. According to RacingNews365, he told the media.
"First of all, we are there more for the show than the race itself, looking at the layout of the circuit. I'm not actually that much into that, I'm more: 'I'll go there, do my thing, and be gone.'"
However, the Dutchman also recently said the low temperatures and the fact that no drivers have experience with the track might make the race more exciting.
Asked whether the Las Vegas Grand Prix will bring value to F1, Verstappen responded: "It depends for whom and for what."
There are tracks in Formula One which both fans and drivers look forward to. Some examples include Silverstone for the British Grand Prix or Interlagos for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The three-time World Champion suggests that Las Vegas Strip Circuit won't bring value regarding "racing spectacle." While Verstappen acknowledged some upsides for F1 and fans, he made it clear he is not into it.
"In terms of racing spectacle, maybe not, but maybe in terms of potential partners for F1, and the whole show around it - but again, I'm not into it."
