Formula 1 reporter Ted Kravitz revealed how
Max Verstappen confronted
George Russell in the Drivers' Parade holding room.
Speaking to the media after winning the 2024
Qatar Grand Prix, Max Verstappen expressed his
shock and
disappointment with FIA's decision to give him the
unprecedented one-place grid penalty before the start.
Verstappen also suggested that his rival George Russell, who benefited from it as he took the pole position, played a significant role in trying to persuade stewards that the Dutchman deserved it.
The
Red Bull Racing F1 driver added that he had never seen someone
"trying to screw someone over that hard" and that he
lost all respect for the 26-year-old.
Following the conclusion of the race weekend in Qatar, Sky Sport's reporter Ted Kravitz teased an upcoming season of the Drive to Survive series (which follows drivers behind the scenes).
Kravitz reported that the Driver to Survive camera crew
managed to capture how the four-time World Champion
confronted the
Mercedes F1 driver ahead of the race in the drivers' parade holding room.
"The rumor is with George Russell, first you would have heard Max Verstappen saying that the way George pushed so hard for Max to get a penalty, I've never seen anyone to bleep someone over that hard."
"And the way that George fished for a penalty in the FIA hearing."
"The rumour is and I think you'll find this when Drive to Survive airs in February because they're definitely not going to leave this little snippet on the editing room floor that on the Driver's Parade holding room, Max then confronted George, still seething as we've said, he uses that anger as a motivation, for this one-place grid drop."
"He said something along the lines of you and your FIA mates, I hope you're happy with what you've done or your FIA buddies."
"I think the actual quote was rather ruder than that but I'm not going to say what it was, but that seems to be the confrontation that Christian Horner referred to, that it all got a bit tasty between them."
