Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen won the last three Drivers' Championships, and in a recent interview, he discussed the differences between them.
Verstappen has been one of the fastest even before the season 2021 when he finished third in the 2019 and 2020 Championships behind the two Mercedes drivers.
However, the Dutchman got his chance to show what he's really got in 2021 when he finally got a car that was able to compete for the Championship title.
The end of 2021 was quite controversial and is disputed by F1 fans until this day, but the fact remains that Verstappen showed numerous incredible performances throughout the season for which he deserved the title. As reported by RacingNews365, he said:
"In ’21, people always talk about the last race, but I think a championship is won over the whole season, right?"
In 2022, Verstappen won the title after the Japanese Grand Prix, but a pretty messy situation arose as it wasn't clear back then whether the Red Bull driver really had enough points.
While Verstappen didn't want to celebrate yet as he didn't believe he had enough points, but people around him were already saying he won the Championship. He remembered the experience:
"The same in ‘22. A little hiccup in Japan that takes a few more minutes to find out if your champion or not. For me, those kind of things, they don't really matter."
While 2022 was already a super dominant season for the Dutchman, he managed to outdo himself in 2023 as he won 19 out of 22 races of the season and set numerous records that might never be broken again.
"I think this year is performance-wise, definitely the best one. The first one has been the most emotional one. The middle one… is now the middle one."
