In an interview after the 2024 Japanese Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton described how he can't stop thinking about when he will be fighting for the race win again.
It has been 49 race weekends since Lewis Hamilton's last win, which he took during the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The seven-time World Champion hasn't been able to achieve the top step since Mercedes lost their pace advantage in 2022.
The German team went into this season with big hopes, but it seems even slower compared to their rivals than in 2022 or 2023. In fact, Hamilton has never had such a terrible start to the season in terms of results as he is having at the moment.
Speaking to motorsport.com after the fourth round of the 2024 season at Suzuka Circuit in Japan, where he started from P7 and finished in P9, he said:

"I think ultimately if you dwell on difficult times, then there's only one way you're going. I think it's really good to be able to unplug, reset and reset your focus and your goals moving forwards. And so, I have a few of these other things."

"But still the ultimate thing that keeps me up at night is, 'when are we going to be fighting for wins again? What can I do different? What can I do better in the car? How can I improve in qualifying? How can I deliver more for the team? What different set-up things can we take?'"

While many pundits suggest the seven-time World Champion looks like he lost his hunger, his words suggest otherwise. Hamilton seems determined to achieve at least one more win with Mercedes before he leaves the team at the end of 2024. He added:

"Those things still keep you up. But we win and we lose as a team. We're very united. Everyone's working incredibly hard, so we just got to continue at it."
