Guenther Steiner, who was recently replaced in
Haas in his position of team principal, suggested the team would not be in F1 anymore if it weren't for him.
Firstly, it is important to mention that Haas might not be in Formula One at all if it weren't for the former team principal of Haas - Guenther Steiner.
Steiner was the one who met with Gene Haas (owner of the team) in the United States and persuaded the American to invest in an F1 team.
The 58-year-old was also the one who led the whole operation, assembled the core team, and created a core alliance with
Scuderia Ferrari that supplies Haas with components until today.
The former team principal also suggested the team might not have stayed in F1 after the incredibly challenging 2020 season without him. He told
Sky Sports:
"Obviously, I think without me in 2020 it wouldn't have been around anymore. But Gene Haas owns the team so in the end he's free to do what he wants."
Nobody expected the team principal to separate ways with Haas.
Damon Hill stated that Steiner's departure is a big loss for F1. The former team principal continued by saying he couldn't accuse the team owner of anything.
"I cannot accuse him of anything. I can accuse him but it doesn't do anything because he can make his decisions, he is free to decide."
On the other hand, the 58-year-old stays positive as he described his life as just fine at the moment. The end of one journey might mark the beginning of another one.
"I am actually fine, my life will continue. I will have fun, I will stay around. Something will pop up. I'm doing good. In the end a good period in my life came to an end, but maybe an even better one starts.
