Mercedes driver George Russell revealed that he even received phone calls and messages from drivers who hope to replace Lewis Hamilton in Mercedes starting in 2025.
Mercedes team will lose a Lewis Hamilton going into the 2025 season. As a result, the team has to find a replacement for the seven-time World Champion.

Consequently, Toto Wolff probably has had a very busy phone ever since the announcement of the departure of his start driver to the Ferrari. When asked about his potential teammate for the 2025 season, Geroge Russell told the media in Bahrain:
"I think it's important to have good harmony between the drivers, because that trickles down into all of the engineers and the whole team. But ultimately, the decision is with Toto and the board."
The 25-year-old revealed he had already had a few conversations with his team principal. Moreover, he said that Hamilton's replacement hopefuls also contacted him.
"We’ve already had conversations and I’ve been with Toto a lot this winter so seeing the drivers’ names pop up on the telephones was quite funny, and even on my phone as well the phone calls and text messages."
Being no short of candidates for the seat, Mercedes is in an excellent position with one year to make the final decision. Russell added:
"So yeah it's been quite interesting. But as a team, we're in a really good opportunity and position to go into this next chapter. There's been so much success with Lewis and Mercedes."
