Pirelli's motorsport director Mario Isola issued a response to Red Bull's suspicion that some F1 teams, including McLaren, injected their tires with fluid.
It was revealed by multiple media outlets, including Motorsport.com, ahead of the 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix, that Red Bull Racing talked to FIA in relation to their suspicions that some F1 teams, including Mclaren, could be injecting their tires with water or different fluids.
Liquid inside the tires could help limit thermal regulation which ultimately potentially leads to improvement in performance. FIA has already been in talks with Pirelli in relation to this issue.
The organization examined whether any liquids were leaking during the process of removal of the tires from the rims in Sao Paulo.
Speaking after the Sprint race at Interlagos Circuit in Brazil, Pirelli's motorsport director Mario Isola suggested he hasn't seen any evidence that would suggest F1 teams are, in fact, injecting their tires with some unspecified liquid.
On the other hand, the tire producer company is taking this situation seriously and is prepared to support FIA in potential further investigation of the matter. As quoted by Motorsport.com, Isola said:
"I cannot see anything strange from the data we have. I don't have any evidence."
"Obviously, as I said, it's up to the FIA now to decide what to do and to tell us if we can support them, because at the end of the day the only thing we can do is to support them."
"If there is anything we can do to check, or to give them advice on a possible situation, we are here to support."
"I'm not aware of any issue, but I heard the story, and I have also tried to understand why it should be done, which now I have an idea. But for the rest, it's all in the hands of the FIA."
