Former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan shared his opinion on Lando Norris as a driver following the 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
After the 21st round of the 2024 season in Brazil, Lando Norris's gap to the leader in the Drviers' Championship, Max Verstappen, has increased to 62 points.
With only three race weekends to go, it is still mathematically possible for Norris to win, although he would now need Verstappen to DNF at least twice in order to have a chance.
The McLaren driver had a huge opportunity to close the gap to the triple World Champion during the Grand Prix in Brazil, where he started from the pole position while Verstappen had to start from P17.
However, due to a couple of mistakes and one unlucky decision to pit ahead of the red flag, Norris ended up five positions behind the Dutchman, who went on to win the race.
While it was an incredible performance by Max Verstappen, who showed that he deserves to win the Championship, former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan asserted that the McLaren driver isn't quite at that level yet. He said on the Formula for Success podcast:
"Lando hasn't quite got there yet. He hasn't got there on the start. He hasn't got there on the pole position run to the corner. He has the speed, beyond any doubt, he's got the speed."
"But there's nothing in me that tells me that I've seen in Lando something that I saw what Max could do on Sunday. Nothing."
I'm sorry, it's just not there. So Lando has to look at himself along and hard this winter into the mirror and say to himself: "If I'm going to be a great world champion, I have a lot to learn here and I need to start replaying those videos about what it really is like to be hard, tough and victorious." And I'm sorry, at this moment in time, he hasn't got it.
