Red Bull Racing F1 driver
Max Verstappen said he is focusing on breaking the record for the most wins in one season once again in Brazil during the 2023
Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
It is insane to think that Max Verstappen has won all but three races ever since the beginning of the season. The Dutchman broke his own record for the most race wins in a season when
he won his 16th 2023 race in Mexico City.
The seven-time World Champion
Lewis Hamilton said after the race at
Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez he would put money on Verstappen to achieve the 18th and 19th win as well this season.
As quoted by GPblog, the Flying Dutchman himself told the media he is confident about going to Sao Paulo after the successful weekend in Mexico City:
"Looking ahead to Brazil, it’s the final race of a triple header and the last Sprint race of the season. Coming off of a good race in Mexico, we are confident going into this weekend but need to keep our focus."
The 26-year-old reflected on how "crazy" it is to have scored 16 wins in a season. After winning 15 races throughout the 2022 season, he would not think something like that was replicable.
It’s crazy to have achieved 16 wins so far this season, after last year I didn’t think it would be possible to replicate that, so it just shows what an amazing season we’re having.
With three race weekends remaining, it is possible for Verstappen to achieve 19 wins in a single season if he wins in
Brazil,
Las Vegas, and
Abu Dhabi as well and he made it clear the focus already is on getting that 17th.
"I am appreciative of all of the hard work and effort everyone in the Team is putting in, I’m glad we can show that on track. Now the focus is on the 17th win."
