McLaren Racing driver Lando Norris issued an update on whether he has been in contact with Max Verstappen following their tense battle in Mexico City.

Following the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix, Lando Norris said he hoped that Max Verstappen would acknowledge that he took a step too far with his move into turn 7 on lap number 10.

The 24-year-old suggested he was trying to race Verstappen fair while the Dutchman was taking advantage of the fact that he knew a mutual DNF could only benefit him.

It was clear already from Norris's radio during the race that he wasn't happy with how his friend - Verstappen approached their battles, as he said on the team radio after their two incidents:

"This guy is dangerous! I just had to avoid a crash! It's the same as last time man. I'll end up in the wall in a minute."

Verstappen and Norris were known to be good friends before their rivalry this season started. The triple World Champion told the media in Sao Paulo that the on-track battles do not affect their relationship.

However, when Norris was asked whether he had spoken to Verstappen between the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix and the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, he said:

"No, we haven't spoken. I don't think we need to. I've got nothing to say. I still have a lot of respect for Max and everything he does. Not respect for what he did last weekend, but respect for him as a person and also what he's achieved."
"But it's not for me to speak to him. I'm not his teacher, and I'm not his mentor or anything like that. Max knows what he has to do; he knows that he did wrong. Deep down, he does, and it's for him to change, not for me."
