Red Bull Racing driver and fresh three-time World Champion
Max Verstappen hinted at F1 retirement plans earlier than F1 fans might expect.
Max Verstappen is driving his most dominant season ever. While there are still more races to win, the Flying Dutchman sealed his third World Championship title
already in Qatar.
Many ask, "What's next?" for the three-time world champion. With the car he is provided, it seems like Verstappen could continue attacking the record for the most consecutive F1 titles in history currently held by Michael Schumacher (5).
On the other hand, the 26-year-old does not seem to be too bothered by such accomplishments. While he has a long career ahead of him, he recently told
DAZN, he also has other plans in life.
"In F1 I want to stay at the top, that is my dream, and I want to work hard for it. But I also have other passions. I want to do endurance racing, I want to set up my own team, and probably lead an endurance or touring car team."
Verstappen says he is "more at peace" now because of the results he was able to accomplish. As he said, many young drivers dream about winning races and titles, and he achieved that.
"Well, I have already achieved all that. I think my mission in F1 has already been completed, but now I want to continue at the top because I like what I am doing, and I am enjoying it."
On one hand, the three-time World Champion hinted his mission in F1 was completed. On the other hand, he still has a long contract with Red Bull and said he loves what he is doing and wants to stay at the top.
Could we see Verstappen win a few more titles and retire after his contract with Red Bull expires, only to go and compete in another prestigious series like the World Endurance Championship? We have to wait and see.
