Mercedes shared a short message from
Lewis Hamilton exclusively with their followers on WhatsApp ahead of the race weekend at
Shanghai International Circuit.
Mercedes secured a new essential partner ahead of this seasonβWhatsApp, a popular messaging app owned by Meta. As part of their collaboration with the company, the team created a channel exclusively for their followers, where they share the latest content every day.
One of the latest messages shared by the German team was a video of the seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton giving an update ahead of the 2024
Chinese Grand Prix. He said:
"Hi to everyone on WhatsApp. I hope you're well. Here in Shanghai, the weather is beautiful today, and I can't wait to get in the car tomorrow. It's been too long since the last race until this race."
There was a one-week break between the fourth and fifth rounds of the 2024 season (the Japanese and the Chinese Grand Prix), but all teams are now back to action and ready for the first sprint weekend of the season.
Formula 1 hasn't been in China since 2019, so nobody knows how the current generation cars will behave on the newly resurfaced Shanghai International Circuit. With only one practice session ahead of the Sprint Shootout, we are in for an exciting weekend.
As the first four race weekends of the season didn't go well for Hamilton, and his best finishing position so far was
P7 in Bahrain, he hopes for a better race this time around. He added:
"I'm just excited to get back in and try again, and I'm hoping for a better weekend than we had the last four race weekends. Huge amount of work is going on, I feel good, positive and need all the energy I can get, so make sure you send it through."
