McLaren F1 team principal
Andrea Stella made a funny remark recently, saying he would like to see the team's CEO
Zak Brown "punching in the garage" as much as possible.
Andrea Stella reflected on the 2023 season in which McLaren finished fourth in the Constructors' Championship, 22 points ahead of
Aston Martin in fifth place and 104 points behind
Ferrari in third place.
The end-of-the-season result, however, does not reflect the progress that the Papaya team made throughout the season.
Regarding points collected in the second half, McLaren was the third-best team, only 16 points behind Ferrari.
McLaren's relatively new team principal, Andrea Stella, eveluated his first season with the team as he called it positive but exhausting. He told
dazn.com:
"For us, for McLaren, it has been a positive season. Exhausting, we are feeling the fatigue, but at the same time we have pleasant feelings plus satisfaction for these results we are achieving. We are proud of what we have achieved."
The British team achieved nine Grand Prix podiums, three sprint podiums, and one Sprint race win in Qatar. See the team's CEO Zak Brown and the team principal with all the trophies below:
Brown has become famous for not hiding his feelings after each of his team's achievements, as he often passionately high-fives everybody in the garage in the moment of celebration. See the video of Brow after the 2023
British Grand Prix.
The team principal joked he would like to see the CEO punching in the garage more often as his team hopes to improve going into 2024 and challenge for Grand Prix wins more frequently.
"I'd like to see Zak Brown punching in the garage as much as possible. Because apparently when the results are good, he high-fives you really hard, so we'd like to see him punching in the garage, smiling, and being happy means that good things are happening."
