Charles Leclerc showed confidence going into the FP3 and Qualification part of the 2023
Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend, saying his car seems strong.
Scuderia
Ferrari F1 driver Charles Leclerc has won so far both
FP1 and FP2 sessions, showing the
Las Vegas Strip Circuit suits his Ferrari just as he predicted.
The Ferrari driver also recently mentioned he loves street tracks and so it seems like there is multiple things going for the Monegasque driver this weekend. He told the media in Las Vegas:
"I always like street tracks but this one is a good one. We look quite strong for now, it's difficult to understand where we are in terms of race pace."
While Leclerc can't really tell where his team stands in terms of the race pace, the qualifying pace seems to be Ferrari's strength, and it would not be surprising to see Leclerc on pole after the Qualification.
"But in terms of qualifying pace, we seem strong. So we still have to work and try to take a step forward for. In qualifying as always, I think we will be there. In race pace I think they are still too strong."
Leclerc has a great qualifying record in the last three race weekends when he put his car on the first row in all of them. He achieved pole position in
Austin and
Mexico City, and in
Brazil, he scored a P2.
However, the real problem for the Ferrari driver is to turn his great qualifying results into podiums and race wins. Leclerc's main rival for the weekend will most probably be Max Verstappen.
"Max has done a really good race simulation, so I'm sure they will be strong on Saturday, this time [in Las Vegas]. In qualifying, it will be close."
