Charles Leclerc shared his opinion on Fernando Alonso's contract extension with Aston Martin as he suggested he can't see himself in F1 for that long.
Alonso is currently 42 and will turn 43 this year on July 29. Although there have been many older drivers in F1 history, it is very unusual nowadays to see someone at the Spaniard's age able to keep up with young, talented drivers.
However, Fernando Alonso is able to compensate for his age with huge experience. In fact, no driver in F1 history has completed as many Grand Prix races or F1 seasons as the double World Champion.
He also keeps proving his worth by outperforming his teammate Lance Stroll, which only contributes to multiple reasons why Aston Martin decided to offer the Spaniard a multi-year contract.
Alonso signed this extension with his team last week, and Charles Leclerc reacted to the news. As quoted by grandpx.news, the Ferrari driver said:

"Fernando is one of the most talented drivers on the grid and he deserves his place in Formula 1. But there are so many young people who also deserve a place. It's not easy to find the balance."

There are many talented young drivers waiting for their chance, especially nowadays. Examples include Liam Lawson with OIllie Bearman (both of whom already proved they have what it takes) or Jack Doohan, Kimi Antonelli, Felipe Drugovich, and Theo Pourchaire.
As to whether he sees himself racing in F1 for as long as Alonso, the Monegasque driver suggested he has other dreams and passions that will most likely prevent him from staying for so long.

"Most likely, I will not be here until 43 years of age, as much as I would like to. I want to try other categories, definitely including Le Mans."

Max Verstappen has been saying something very similar. The Dutchman also wants to try other series and is actually already working on his own GT-3 Class team.
Both Leclerc and the triple World Champion are exactly the same age—26, which is considered still pretty young in F1. Do you think they'll stay in F1 for at least ten more years?
