Liam Lawson's management responded to rumors that sparked following the third round of the 2024 season, suggesting Daniel Ricciardo has been given an ultimatum.
Daniel Ricciardo's home grand prix will be tough for the honey badger to digest for some time. First, he failed in the qualifying session due to a mistake on his final flying lap in Q1.
Secondly, he wasn't able to bring his car into the points during the race, and, lastly, he was outperformed by his teammate Yuki Tsunoda, who even scored BIG during the race as he finished in P7.
Helmut Marko suggested ahead of the season that one of the two RB teammates who performs better might get a chance in Red Bull in 2025.
Back then, Ricciardo was expected to comfortably outperform his teammate. However, the situation looks completely different three races later as the head-to-head score between Ricciardo and Tsunoda is 0-3 in qualifying and 1-2 in race results.
Helmut Marko praised the Japanese driver after the 2024 Australian Grand Prix, saying that he and Franz Tost, the former team principal of RB (back then AlphaTauri or Toro Rosso), always believed in the 23-year-old.
On the other hand, he suggested he hoped the Australian driver would improve, and rumors suggested he gave Ricciardo an ultimatum.
Either the 34-year-old would improve his performances in the next two races, or he would be replaced by Liam Lawson as soon as in Miami.
That being said, Lawson's management responded through journalist Thomas Maher, saying that they had "no idea" where these rumors came from, suggesting either they weren't informed about this yet or that the rumors are completely false. Maher wrote on his X (formerly Twitter):
"Lawson's own management team also have 'no idea' where this idea has come from - Lawson has not had any contact or comment to media regarding this story."
