Lance Stroll responded to those who questioned whether he deserved his seat in Aston Martin, saying he does his talking on the track.
Lance Stroll did not have the easiest of seasons last year. He faced various difficulties like injury before the start, issues with the reliability of his car, and then struggled with his performance around the middle of the season.
After losing a head-to-head battle to his teammate Fernando Alonso by 130 points in the Drivers' Championship, some people started questioning whether the Canadian driver deserves his seat in F1.
Asked whether it frustrates him when people question whether he deserves to be one of the 20 drivers on the Formula 1 grid, Stroll told Aston's official website: "Everyone has their opinion, but I do my talking on the track."
The problem for Lance Stroll is that his father, Lawrence Stroll, owns the Aston Martin F1 team. On the one hand, this means that he could be prioritized over other drivers, which should benefit him.
On the other hand, even if his team picks him based on his performance on the track, there will always be people saying that he is in F1 just because his father owns a team. The 25-year-old continued:
"I've had an incredible journey with my father in motorsport. From go-karting days, through the junior formulas and today in Formula One, what we've accomplished together has been amazing."
The central vision of Lawrence Stroll is to make Aston Martin a championship-winning team. He has been clear about it and is making all the right steps towards reaching this goal (like a partnership with Honda from 2026). The Aston Martin driver added:
"His vision and passion for the sport, for Aston Martin, is really incredible; it's super exciting to be a part of it and to see how much we've already grown as a team over the last four years. And the future is even more exciting."
