Former F1 driver and a four-time World Champion Alain Prost suggested
Max Verstappen is the favorite for the 2025 Dirvers' Championship title.
By doing so, the 27-year-old F1 driver joined a very exclusive club of F1 drivers who managed to achieve four or more titles - Michael Schumacher,
Lewis Hamilton, Juan Manuel Fangio, Alain Prost, and
Sebastian Vettel.
One of these five drivers, Alain Prost, talked to L’Equipe following the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix and suggested that he could not spot any weakness in Max Verstappen.
"At the moment, it's hard to find any weakness. I don't know what he will do in the future, but even with all the rumours with Mercedes and the issues with Red Bull, I still found him to be very strong."
"He's good at everything. He's a very tough driver on the track, but you can't consider that to be a weakness."
In 2025, it is expected all F1 teams will be again even more
closely matched and
Red Bull's technical director
Pierre Waché stated he is "not very confident."Despite the possibility of the Dutchman not having the fastest car next year, Alain Prost remains confident that Verstappen will be number the number one contender for the title. He added:
"Next year will be another debate. It will be a rather special year, in particular, being the last year with the ground effect cars."
"Max's strength is that he's capable of make the difference on his own in certain races, and that's a big advantage for a team, and the Championship."
"So I think he's still the number one contender next year, but now the other teams know Red Bull can be beaten."
