Producer of the upcoming film called "F1", Jerry Bruckheimer, discussed
Lewis Hamilton's role and how his input has cost more money "to fix things."
The F1 movie is one of the most anticipated in the motorsport community. What is special about this movie is that it has been filmed during actual Grand Prix weekends throughout the season.
It features all the real drivers and F1 teams but adds one extra fictional team that doesn't exist in reality called ApexGP.
The F1 movie features Brad Pitt as a retired driver who returns to Formula 1 to race for the ApexGP team. The official trailer has already been released (see below).
This
movie will be released internationally on the 25th of June 2025 and two days later on - the 27th of June 2025, in North America.
Lewis Hamilton's production company, Dawn Apollo Films, is directly involved in the F1 movie, and the seven-time World Champion himself plays an important role.
This important role is not in the actual movie (although he will be there just like all the other drivers). In the interview with Esquire, the 39-year-old revealed his role was rather giving valuable feedback to the producers.
Hamilton described it as "calling bulls**t" on racing scenarios, technical jargon, and other things that were wrong in the script and wouldn't happen in reality.
Basically, the seven-time World Champion is making sure the movie will be
as authentic as possible. The movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer said about the
Mercedes drivers' feedback:
"Everything that he has brought to this movie, I can't even express our thanks to him and all the folks from F1 who made this all possible."
"But the authenticity that he brings, we just can't imagine what goes into what a driver does and what the sport brings to an audience."
"Sometimes we don't like to hear some of the things he says, because it costs us more money to fix things, but we're all in, we want to make it great, and he's certainly helping us."
"The level of specifics that he gave us, like in Silverstone in Turn 3 you're in second gear, and he could hear with his ear we [Brad Pitt] were in third gear."
"So it's that kind of thing that he's bringing to the movie, and he said... when he finishes a race, especially like Singapore, where it's very hot, he can barely get out of the car, they lose 10 pounds... and it's not only him, it's all of them."
"They're just completely exhausted [and] we're going to show what it takes to be an F1 driver."
