Martin Brundle asserted he doesn't agree with the narrative, which suggests Lewis Hamilton would have won the Drivers' Championship title in Lando Norris's position.
Although Lando Norris can still technically win the Dirvers' World Championship, it is almost impossible after the 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix, where Max Verstappen increased the gap in the Championship to 62 points.
To win the title, Norris would now need to close the gap to Verstappen by more than 20.6 points on average at all of the three remaining weekends in the 2024 season.
At this point, only something very bizarre would stop the triple World Champion from securing his fourth consecutive title.
Norris had a car that could have won almost every Grand Prix since Miami. However, during the 15 race weekends that have passed since then, he didn't really manage to close the gap to Verstappen.
In a recent episode of the Sky F1 podcast, Ted Kravitz brought up a statement supposedly made by Helmut Marko suggesting that Lewis Hamilton would have won this year's Championship in the 24-year-old's McLaren.
Former F1 driver Martin Brundle disagreed with this statement as he went on to suggest he hasn't seen too much from the seven-time World Champion this season that would convince him he could do that.
"I don't agree [that Hamilton would have won the Championship in Norris's car], it's a potshot. Lewis, of course, is one of the all-time greats."
"He's currently seventh in the World Championship, two points behind George Russell. He won brilliantly at Silverstone. He won in Spa because George was disqualified."
"But I don't think that I've seen anything that Lewis is doing this year that would have made enough of a difference to have won the world championship."

Lewis Hamilton has been struggling significantly with his Mercedes since the summer break. After the most recent Grand Prix in Sao Paulo, he suggested he couldn't wait for the end of the season as he now had to drive the worst car he had ever had.
