Lewis Hamilton was not happy after finishing tenth at the 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix and he suggested he has never had a worse car.
Mercedes F1 driver Lewis Hamilton started the 21st round of the 2024 season at Interlagos Circuit from P14 after being knocked out of Q2 in qualifying.
Starting from so far behind, the seven-time World Champion wasn't even hoping for a podium, but he had no idea how challenging the race would be.
Hamilton struggled with control of his car all-throughout the 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix, and he made it clear while speaking to Sky Sports F1 after the race that he wasn't happy:
"We were just slow. The car was really, really tough. But I do really want to say a big thank you to the guys in the garage. They turned up super early this morning and still did a great job throughout the weekend."
"I know everyone back in the factory will be feeling the pain. The team could have won, also, today. At least one car was behaving."
"It's like a plank of wood. There's no suspension. It's just bouncing on the tires, everywhere. Can't get on the power anywhere."
Mercedes started this season as the fourth fastest F1 team, and with a series of upgrades, the German team managed to make their way up and compete with the best ahead of the summer break (scoring three victories).
However, Silver Arrows have generally not been able to match the top three teams (Red Bull, McLaren, and Ferrari) ever since after the summer break.
Ultimately, Hamilton crossed the finish line in Sao Paulo 50.753 seconds behind the race winner, Max Verstappen, who started the Grand Prix from P17. He added:
"The worst ride definitely that we've ever had, particularly through corners. Just so stiff. Hopefully we won't have any more bumpy tracks. I think the last three aren't so bouncy, but yeah, I could happily go take a holiday."
