The 1992 Champion, Nigel Mansell, expects Lewis Hamilton to challenge for the title during the next season (2025) driving for Ferrari.

It is now clear that Lewis Hamilton will not add the eighth Formula 1 title to his collection while driving for Mercedes. However, the 39-year-old will have a couple of tries with Ferrari once he joins the team in 2025.

The Briton signed a multi-year deal with the team from Maranello, which means he should be driving for Scuderia at least until the end of 2026.

Although most fans and pundits were very supportive of this move, some criticized Hamilton. Former F1 driver and the 1992 Champion Nigel Mansell acknowledged that there are some negative opinions, but he believes joining Ferrari is a great step for the 39-year-old. He toldTop Offshore Sportsbooks:

"He gets a lot of criticism. I think what he's done now to end his career in Formula 1 going to Ferrari is a magical step for him."
"He won't realize, having been an ex-Formula 1 Ferrari driver, to drive for Ferrari is something incredibly special, and he'll feed off that."

Another former F1 driver, Riccardo Patrese, recently also said Hamilton joining Ferrari was a great move for both the driver and the team.

He also said that it is now up to Scuderia to deliver the seven-time Champ a competitive car, as he is still capable of fighting for the Championship title. Mansell agrees:

"Give Lewis the car, he'll get the job done, and so I predict that he will have a fabulous time at Ferrari. He'll go into a different gear. He'll be motivated again, and I expect Lewis to challenge for the World Championship in 2025."

Ferrari hasn't won any Championship since 2008. At the same time, no driver in the history of Formula 1 managed to win eight Drivers' Championship titles. Hamilton winning the title with Ferrari in 2025 would, therefore, indeed be a magical moment. Do you think he can do it?
