F1 president Stefano Domenicali revealed what he advised Lewis Hamilton before the seven-time world champion joins Ferrari in 2025.
Lewis Hamilton is only a few days from officially becoming a Scuderia Ferrari F1 driver. In 2025, the seven-time world champion will join Charles Leclerc to fight for the title with the Italian F1 team.
Formula 1's president, Stefano Domenicali, used to work for the team from Maranello and was the team principal of Ferrari from 2008 to 2014.
Having spent a long time with Hamilton's future squad, Domenicali revealed he actually advised the 39-year-old to do one thing before he joins the team. He told Autoracer:
"He will bring a lot of interest. He is learning to speak Italian and to understand how to integrate into our culture."
"I told him, it is fundamental for him to be able to do this as well. In Ferrari he will find a different environment than before."
In February 2024, Hamilton said he planned to learn the Italian language. Like most F1 drivers, he spent some time in Italy during his karting days, so he had already picked up a few lines, but there was still a lot for him to learn.
Regarding the dynamic between Leclerc and Hamilton, the Formula 1 president noted that the two drivers respect each other and that he hopes it will remain the same after 2025.
"Charles will obviously have to accept that having someone like Lewis in the house will not be an easy partner."
"At the same time Lewis will definitely have the ability to transmit this positivity of his in trying to achieve his record."
"They respect each other very much, and I hope they will still respect each other at the end of the year."
The Monegasque driver had no problem with all of his teammates so far. On the other hand, Hamilton had two very tense seasons with Fernando Alonso and Nico Rosberg, so it remains to be seen how the two Ferrari teammates get along.
