Lewis Hamilton will leave Mercedes after the 2024 season, and he knows that difficult conversations will soon need to start.
Some drivers change teams every other year, and some stay with one team for decades. That's been the case with Hamilton, who's currently completing his 12th season with Mercedes.
But the seven-time World Champion won't add his 13th season with the German team, as he made a decision to leave the team after the 2024 season and join one of their main rivals,
Ferrari.
That means that the 2024 season is a bit different for him, and special in many ways, as it's his last season with Mercedes, and things will go differently this time around.
While he previously likely had discussions with the team about what will happen "next year" those won't be happening this time around, and the Brit will also need to have talks with his Team Principal,
Toto Wolff.
The 52-year-old previously
joked about his immediate reaction when the British driver broke the news to him, saying he couldn't imagine seeing him in a read uniform, but soon, they will have to have more serious conversations.
Many pundits previously discussed how much data will the team share with Hamilton, knowing he will join the rival team in the following season, but Wolff stated he wasn't afraid about the 39-year-old's integrity.
Still, as he said during the 2024
Japanese Grand Prix at the
Suzuka Circuit, according to Daily Express, Hamilton knows that he will need to start the conversation about his move with Wolff, as things will soon change for both of them.
"At some stage, I will have to start the conversation with Toto. I've never been in this position at this time of the year. So I'm not quite sure how to navigate it, but right now, I want to finish on a high here, so all my energy is going into this. Of course, there's excitement for the future."
