Lewis Hamilton shared insight into the development of the newly launched W15 and his motivation for the last season with Mercedes.

It is strange for everyone to see Lewis Hamilton with Mercedes when we can't wait for him to sit in the Ferrari. However, the seven-time World Champion still has one season to finish with his team.

Mercedes officially launched their season today with the reveal of the W15 and consequent shakedown at the Silverstone Circuit. He told the media:

"The learnings of the past two years have helped us find our direction. It’s enabled us to find our north star."

The seven-time World Champion suggested he does not expect this season to be smooth sailing. It remains to be seen how the German team will rank in comparison to others, but the 39-year-old is prepared to work through all the challenges "diligently."

"It’s still going to be a work in progress, but we will face whatever challenges present themselves with our heads up, with open minds, and work through diligently."

According to the Mercedes's technical director, James Allison, one of the critical areas of focus was making W15's rear axle more predictable. This is key for drivers' confidence inside the car.

"If you’re not comfortable with the car, you’re not able to extract the maximum performance. A more stable, more predictable car will enable us to extract the potential from, not only the car, but ourselves as drivers."

While he is leaving for Ferrari, Hamilton explained it wasn't related in any way to a potential lack of trust in his team but rather a childhood dream. He added:

"I know what this team is capable of. I am incredibly grateful for the work of every single person in this team. Every time you’re in the factory, you can see the sheer drive and determination of everyone,"
"We are all mega-motivated for the year ahead and will be giving it everything we’ve got on the journey ahead."
